Quote from Eric Becher on December 25, 2022, 12:10 pmI may do a test flight on f or g motors at our field, given the right winds (or lack thereof), before Red Glare and my level 1.
(Now that I stated it in public, I can't back out!😬)

Quote from Brian C. on December 26, 2022, 10:27 amI've been to METRA, but not to a big event like Red Glare, so, I will try to make that event as well, as I'd like to see some real big launches (and launch failures, you know it'll happen). Besides it'll give me an opportunity to pick up some vendor materials that would normally incur hazmat fees if I were to have them shipped. Got myself an RMS 29/40-120, and now I need the stuff that goes inside the case.

One of the rocket vendors (buyrocketmotors.com) had a nice Black Friday deal on the Aerotech RMS29/40-120 with a G64 reload for $80, so I've finally replaced mine. Mine was banana peeled at a CENJARS launch in my second Estes Nike Smoke with a G53FJ reload. Something blocked the nozzle about 50 feet in the air, over-pressurized it and it blew apart. Anyway, most of the AT 29/40-120 reloads don't require HAZMAT.
Wildman Connecticut is usually present at METRA launches, so you can get what you want at most launches or ask one of us, if we're going, to get you what you want from Wildman CT.
METRA is altitude limited to 4,500ft AGL. That's why you'll see most of the rockets flying there are big and heavy to allow Ks, Ls and Ms to be flown without breaching their COA. MDRA has more than 3.5 times that altitude for its COA and thus, you'll see many more large and higher altitude flights. Tom Cohen's rockets might not fly highest, but they're large and chock full of Newton-Seconds. Dan Michaels' full scale Patriot might get a boost there too this Red Glare, who knows. Regardless, Red Glare is lots of fun! We should talk next launch about reserving a block in one of the host hotels.
