September 6th, 2026 Launch Report
A beautiful day for a launch!

A great day for flying. Plenty of flights, despite the issue with one of the controllers (we’re looking into that). Tents were on the field, but it wasn’t really too hot. Winds generally moderate. I just wish we didn’t have to drag the gear across the field, but we have to setup where the wind dictates and that should change with the fall season.
Plenty of folks turned out on this Labor Day weekend, with lots of great rockets. Some were celebrating back to school. Some the 60th anniversary of Star Trek. And some were Flying Saturn V rockets just because. For back to school, there were a couple of crayons, a Ruler with protractor fins, and a school bus in the air. Joe, Charlie, and the Gorn shot a little video for Star Trek before flying the Enterprise and Klingon battle cruiser. And Neil and Eric both flew their Saturn V’s.
Also seen in the air were a couple of ARC team flights, getting some practice in. A rather large Flamingo took flight, but suffered a hard landing and now has a crooked neck. Dan flew some gliders, including one that sounded more like a firecracker. New flier Arjun made a number of nice flights with his Amazon. Alice showed us all how to fly like the veteran that she is. There was even a Leaper drag race, that went about as well as a Leaper usually does. And if anyone went by Bill’s table, you saw a bunch of his rockets that he has been working on over the summer, many never having flown before, but all looking sharp. Jimmy even turned up to fly a few things, showing us what a real streamer looks like, in case we forgot. Chris even flew his 2-stage Sasha with success. So there was a great variety to be seen.
A warm welcome to the handful of new faces that we saw too. Always nice to see new folks getting involved and seeing what we do. One of the best assets any rocket club has are its members, with their knowledge and experience. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, as we love to share what we do and have learned.
Speaking of sharing, there are lots of pictures in the GALLERY. Joe is working on the video(s) too, which should be fun. Check them out, and add to it if you have a good shot.
Thanks again to our rocket vendor Joe of Rocketship Games. Joe won’t be at our October launch, but he’ll be back after that.
The next launch is scheduled for October 4th. The October launch often brings out flying pumpkins, gourds, witches, and ghosts of all sorts! Don’t be too scared to attend – it’s always a fun launch – fall winds permitting.
Finally, we have the Wall Township “Kid’s Day America” event coming up on Saturday September 19th. This is a way for us to give back to the town we fly in, and spread the word about rocketry and CENJARS. We fly small demo flights on their Library lawn, set up displays of our favorite rockets, and speak to a lot of folks about what we love to build and fly. It’s a fun few hours, and anyone is welcome to come lend a hand, and/or bring something to display. We end up flying quite a lot of small rockets and “planet probes.” Details are on the calendar page. Pictures from the event from past years are in the Gallery too (in the outreach folder).
