Scheduled Launch May 2026
Attention CENJARS members,
Sunday, May 3, 2026 is our scheduled monthly launch. Weather is looking fine with temps close to 60ºF and partly cloudy skies. The wind may be higher than we'd prefer but it shouldn't preclude flying. Spill holes and Chute Release can mitigate your wind concerns.
I'm just back from the NASA Student Launch held in Huntsville and Toney, Alabama where I was mentor for team Mach Lightspeed, Diptanshu's school rocket team. Their rocket was the last flight of the event. It flew and recovered well. The final results should be published by this month's end.
The ARC Nationals take place the middle of this month, so there shouldn't be any teams to contend with appropriating our launch pads when you're looking to fly.
Cinco de Mayo this week too. How about some Flying Burritos (in deference and reference to Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman of the Byrds)?
Sure, it's Cinco de Mayo. But there is A Lot to celebrate this month:

Star Wars day (Brian's favorite)
Mother's Day
Armed Forces Day
National Maritime Day
Memorial Day
And I'm sure there is someone's birthday this month. (Not mine)
