Scheduled Launch April 2026

Attention CENJARS,

Sunday, April 19th, 2026 has been scheduled for our monthly launch. I'd hoped to have it sooner this month but several things culminated to delay scheduling of the launch.

  1. First, Easter fell on the first Sunday of April. I was not going to schedule the launch that Sunday as it would interfere with members who celebrate that holiday.
  2. Second, the NAR Insurance which we carry for Wall School District on the Athletic Complex expired on the last day of March, 2026. I did, however, receive the new CoI (Certificate of Insurance) from NAR before the end of the month.
  3. Third, Wall School District now has an online/web-based application for use of school facilities and resources. I went onto that site to procure the complex for the 12th but it was unavailable for that date. I do not know if it something was scheduled there or if it was just blocked out because the school was in the midst of their spring break hiatus.
  4. Fourth, my request for the complex could not be granted until the school was back in session after the spring break.

Now that I've explained that, know that this Sunday's weather forecast is not boding well for a launch. Keep your eyes on the website's main page as late as Sunday morning to see if the launch is a GO or NO-GO! I will check the latest forecasts Sunday morning and I hope to, if necessary, call the launch by 9:00.

If we can not fly on Sunday, I will request the field for the following Sunday. I will not be able to attend that launch but, if other officers will be willing and able to conduct the launch, I will schedule it. I will be in Huntsville, AL at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center as Diptanshu's mentor for the NASA SLI (Student Launch Initiate) events and launch.

I know, with the weather getting more appealing for outdoor activities, that you are all pining to launch. Let's hope that the coming months' weather will not impede our plans.

Too bad that we had to scrub for today, but it is best. Pretty wet and dreary out there right now. Supposed to be light rain all afternoon and winds picking up. Would make for a rather blah afternoon on the field.

But just wait until next weekend! (we seem to say that a lot this year!) Hopefully we can get field permission and fly.

That will be quickly followed by the May launch, where, among other things, we might celebrate "May the 4th". Get your Star Wars rockets ready!

Drats!

Hope we can squeeze in next weekend. I've got motors to burn.
