I did do computations and ran it through OP design too. Using equal areas for the elliptical and the trapezoidal fins, the latter provides slightly improved stability moving CP further aft. Also, it's got a lower profile which will alleviate fin tip drag and flutter. I'll have to look around to see if there are any supersonic missiles which use elliptical fins.

The Spitfire's rudder was rounded but the leading edge of its vertical stabilizer was not. Its leading edge was swept akin to the leading edge of a trapezoidal fin.
