October 2025 Launch Report

First, sorry for the delay in getting this posted. We had a routine family emergency yesterday, but everything will be fine. It just threw my schedule into Kaos.

Sunday was another great day of flying! Particularly exceptional for October when it can be chilly and windy. Not so this month. Tents were in order for the 80 degree temps, and winds were light. It was so nice, the flying continued well past 5PM as the sun was setting below the trees.

Engine totals:

10 – 1/2A Engines
8 – A Engines
22 – B Engines
22 – C Engines
8 – D Engines
19 – E Engines
12 – F Engines
3 – G Engines
Total of 104 engines on 100 flights.

We had a good size crowd turn out for the “Halloween Launch.” Not only our members, but a bunch of new folks and more ARC teams showed up too. Their season is well underway, as teams “Ad Astra,” “Interstellar,” and “K218B Rocketry” can attest.  Welcome folks, and thanks for signing up. Good luck to the ARC teams this year!

Halloween was in full observance. We saw launches of Skeletons, Candy Corn, Ghosts, Witches Hats, Zombies, and lots of Goblins, great and small! A couple of fliers were completely out of their gourds, having converted the ones they had into flying machines. Some spooky flights were smoother than others, but all were fun to see. As were the folks in costume. We saw a Mandolorian, Swedish Fish (‘cause why not), a Pirate Princess (who was a big help launching), and an entity that looked like an Andy Warhol version of Beetlejuice (I am sure a video will be coming soon). All lots of fun, and thanks for livening up the field! A few folks also handed out treats, with special thanks to Linden for the cupcakes.

Flights of note: Charlie’s mega-sized “Death Star 2.4” is hard to beat for putting on a show! Franz drag raced himself with his “Astron Mark II’s” in different sizes, and he won! (He had a streamer that Jim Z would have been proud of.) Brian C gets the award of loudest CATO of the day (which he promises will return!). Bill Miller always has nice rockets, including his “Redstone,” “Solar Warrior,” “Nike Smoke” and the “Cheez Skeleton.” It was fun watching all the “Witchcraft Hats” that Joe K built on-site and tried to launch with MMX motors. He did manage to get one to leave the rod, so I consider the design a success! If you stayed late, you saw some larger “Great Goblins” take flight from Eric and Manav. Manav also flew a bigger, 3d printed “Goblin Army” which flew on four E12’s. Not a single one CATO’d and the flight was great! Always a nice-looking rocket was Joe’s upscale “Citation Patriot”. Sadly, it took a hard landing, sticking into the grass, but I hope the damage is repairable. And last but not least were Sonnia’s “Orange Bullet” flights (2 of them) and Don’s similarly small and fast “Red Ranger”. The miracle here is that they were all found after doing their usual disappearing act into the sky! And there were a great many other nice flights and good-looking rockets, too numerous to mention. As I said before, just a great day for flying!  Don’t forget to check out the pics in the Gallery or post your own.

Next launch is currently scheduled for November 2nd. Fingers crossed for more outstanding weather. We do hope to see Rocketship Games attend that launch as he did this past one.

Our November launch is typically our annual business meeting too. It will only be a brief interruption in the flying, but we will go over our “State of the Club” matters and vote for next year’s Officers. So, if you are curious about some of that info, or if you want to get involved more, please attend.

Speaking of getting involved, we have a great group of members that pitch in every month, and also in-between launches at our outreach & Scout events. They help set up and breakdown the substantial amount of gear for the launches. More hands are always welcome!! If you want to learn a bit about how all that is put together, or just want to give back by lending a hand, jump right in. Charlie typically arrives with the gear at the field about noon. Packing up after the launch also takes just a few minutes. Ask “what can I do” and someone will help you. It’s not hard, and many hands make it go quickly and easily. Thanks to those that have helped in the past, and those that will in the future!

The in-flight video at time 11:00 is easily the best on board flight video I have ever seen!! 😲

What camera was used?
