September 2025 Launch

Greetings CENJARS flyers,

It's time once again for our scheduled monthly CENJARS launch. Our August launch and picnic was a great success, and I applaud all who came out to dine and launch. A special kudos to all who provided something for all of our picnicking gourmands.

September is back-to-school for many of our younger members. I've also been contacted by many potential school (T)ARC teams wanting to certify for this year's completion. I've urged all of them to get out early and fly as often as possible. Only time will tell if that advice will be heeded.

The Wall School District has changed how I need to apply for the use of the Athletic Complex facilities. They have now moved to a completely on-line application process. 👍 It took me some time to get CENJARS, as an entity, registered in their new system. Once approved, I was then able to apply for the first Sunday of each month through March 31, 2025. This removes the need for me to fight editing their awful PDF form I've had to endure two times a year. Why two times, you may be wondering? The insurance certificates from NAR are issued in April of any given calendar year for 12 months. The Wall School District's fiscal calendar begins in September.

I have been busy this past month working with Diptanshu on his rocket for the NASA SLI program. There's also been several other young rocketeers interested in obtaining their Jr. L1 certification. I'm expecting to see them at our launch too and I'll be busy working with them at the launch, so I'm requesting that our members please step up and assume LCO duties. It's not difficult and, even if you were to do it for 30 minutes or for a single launch cycle, it would help free up my time and that of others. You'll find you've still got ample time to fly.

There were some complaints and criticisms raised about the August launch. As a result, no one will be allowed past the flight line when launching and until pads are declared cold! No sparkies! No questionable rockets without RSO preview and approval. I'm already embroiled in battle with NAR that may be costing me money; I'm not going to pile further weight upon my shoulders.

FWIW, while my reattached finger is healing well, I still have the two metal pins inserted through it. This makes it very difficult for me as an extreme southpaw. It's also difficult to grasp many things with my left hand too.

We've had a beautiful stint of fair weather for late August after a very rainy and hot early summer. However, there is a possibility that rains could jeopardized Sunday's launch, so I am urging everyone reading this launch announcement to check the CENJARS.org main page before trekking out to our launch site. Currently, the %POP for the hours of our launch operation are forecasted to be virtually 0% but, as we all know, the weathermen are completely fallible. 😉

Do share the “several” Jr L1 requests. Perhaps this task can be split up

As a suggestion, a separate folder to document Dip’s NASA SLI progress . It would be good to see what he’s learned

Any idea yet where the set up will be in the field?

Based on NW winds, near the parking lot.
