Rocketry GPS transmitter/receivers in the 33mc band
Quote from Admin on August 8, 2025, 10:54 amThis morning on the morning HAM chat net I attend, a new fellow from in the Buffalo NY area asked a question about the new and upcoming thing known as Meshtastic. He said it's rather pervasive in the Buffalo and upstate NY area. This has me concerned for those of us that go to the clubs in that area and use GPS trackers. Most all use the 33cm band. I'm concerned that there will be excess 33cm transmissions on the frequencies those of use who use these GPS tracking system use.
It looks like I will, before heading into that area, need to change my Eggtimer Rocketry Eggfinder to use the 70cm band. This is a HAM band, so not everyone can do this. I got my FCC technician license so that I could use the 70cm band just for this purpose but it looks like I may need to accelerate my plans to change frequency bands.
