October 2025 Scheduled Launch

Wow CENJARS fliers, this is the one you've been pining for!

It's time once again for our scheduled monthly launch and we couldn't ask for a nicer day to launch weatherize. Considering the awful start to this year's flying season, this may be the weather god's way of making amends. Temperature should be nearing 80ºF by mid-afternoon and the winds will be low >5mph from the south and southeast. Plenty of sunshine and little cloud cover too have been predicted. Not bad for early October. Get out to fly for this one! You won't want to pass up such a nice day with such great company! It's good that we'll have this launch as schedule too because I will be traveling extensively throughout October. I won't have to worry about trying to reschedule the launch and then miss it.

October is Halloween month; who'd have guessed it? There are reports of some coming in costume. Last year, many of us came out costumed for the theme of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It was fun. No theme declared as far as I know for this launch, so feel free to be and come to see most anything.

I've had surgical pins removed from my sawed off index finger and I've been busied with lots of physical therapy since their removal, so I've had my head in other places. Therefore, if I've missed anything in this launch announcement, I'm sure others will fill in the missing details.

Don't miss this launch folks!

Do we know which part of the field setup will be and will Rocketship games be there?

Last he told me, Joe said he and his one-tent Bazaar of UFO's would be attending on Sunday.

As for field location, hard to say for sure until we are there.  I'm seeing forecast winds 9mph from the south, which could mean setting up at the back of the field, far from the parking lot. But that is VERY MUCH subject to change. We'll know for sure on Monday.😉

KBLM TAF is currently shows only through Saturday. However, I believe we might be able to get away with setting up at the end of that paved walkway on the west side (baseball field) if winds continue to prevail from the SW. High temperature forecast is now ~81ºF too.  I'll check the KBLM TAF after METRA's launch tomorrow if it isn't canceled. 🤞
