November 2025 Launch Report

It was an unusually nice day for a November launch. Mild temp around 60, sunny skies, and light winds. The good weather brought out a good crowd of over 50 people too, which is always nice to see.

Engine totals:

4 – 1/2A Engines
9 – A Engines
19 – B Engines
26 – C Engines
7 – D Engines
12 – E Engines
10 – F Engines
4 – G Engines
Total of 91 engines on 90 flights.

I hope everyone had a good Halloween a few days ago. Just in case some folks missed it, there were a few Halloween leftovers flying. Eric flew his “Great Goblin” in Halloween colors, and his “Hyperbat” (which he forgot to bring last month) . Jo Ann is still asking “Candy Corn Anyone?” Dan flew his ghost-like gourd “Silly Schmoo” (which doesn’t fly any better). Charlie flew his “Pumpkin Pie” as well. And a few other spooky flights were made by Neil’s “Mega Goblin” with pumpkin chute (not Kermit) and Franz flew his standard Goblin too.

But this month is November, and that means Thanksgiving! So naturally we held a “Turkey Shoot”. The big Tom was posted out in the field. The first to hit him won his secret turkey treasure. No one did actually hit the poor bird, but Dan did come closest, so he took home the big prize at the end of the day. What was the Turkey Treasure you ask? Why of course it was a chocolate turkey, and that traditional dessert that goes with turkey (especially after Halloween and there are used Jack-o-lanterns aplenty) – Pumpkin Pie! Congratulations Dan!

What else was flying? Bill came with more nice examples of rockets, including a nice “Redstone”, a “Nerf Bullet” that did whistle in flight, and a “Coke Bottle” that was cool to see. Bill also flew his Doorknob. Sharp-eyed folks saw Joe K. fly his Doorknob as well. They were twinning! There were a BUNCH of young folks flying their first few rockets ever, if not their very first! And they all did pretty well with a variety of Alpha’s, Tasers, and so on. Good flights, all of them! Not to be outdone by the younger kids, there were a couple of ARC Teams flying and testing (and learning). Good to see them come out early in the season.

Other items of note: You may have heard Charlie working on his NAR “Nartrek” program. This takes a flier through courses with different goals, tests and achievements while learning about model rocketry. He is actually helping some folks at NAR revamp the program so it is run a little better. With Charlie’s help, the program will fix a lot of bugs and hopefully be more current and interesting in the not-too-distant future.

We also held our annual meeting and election of Board Members. Eric will post the minutes of the meeting soon, but the big item is that the current slate of officers will continue in the next year. Stay tuned for the minutes.

And for those who stayed to the bitter end of the day, you were treated to a bit of a fire show. The day was fairly successful, with only a few rockets lost to the trees or weeds. But at the end Pele, Hawaiian Goddess of fire, struck hard! Bill’s “Red Crayon,” Max’s “Black Max,” and Eric’s “Snarky” all went CATO in balls of fire and lava in rapid succession. Pele surely does not favor the E12 or E16 motors from Estes!

Thanks again to everyone for coming out to fly and enjoy the mild weather. Plenty of pictures in the Gallery. Thanks also to Joe K. and Rocketship Games. Next launch is December, so get your Christmas orders to Joe early so he can deliver them at the launch. (trust me - he's real, 🎅 and always has a magic car full of rocket goodies.) Or just bring cash for on-field Elf shopping.

December 5th is the Wall Holiday Tree lighting, not far from the field. Usually it’s a cold, but fun night as we set up a display table and meet lots of folks from the local area. Anyone is welcome to join us. Details in the Calendar.

The next launch is December 7th. Dress warm! Secretary Eric will also be taking membership renewals for 2026 starting then.

Slight correction to Eric's report.

Joe Kopena of Rocketship Games fame informed me that he will not be attending our December launc; at least, as it is now scheduled. Joe will return for the January launch.
