CENJARS By-Laws grants the President the following privileges:
President — The President shall have ultimate authority over, and shall take responsibility for, all operations of the club. The President shall preside over club meetings. It shall be the responsibility of the President to procure and to keep in force the Section Charter. Public announcements of the club activities shall be made under the President’s name and consent. The President shall also serve as Senior Advisor to the National Association of Rocketry. In such case as the President is not a Senior member of the National Association of Rocketry (NAR), a Senior Advisor shall be elected or appointed by the Executive Board. All official material relating to the Section charter, and all other official correspondence from the National Association of Rocketry, shall reside with the President. The President may delegate his (her) duties to other officers or members of the club, as needed. Such delegation shall be approved by a majority vote of the Executive Board.
At Sunday’s launch, there was a complaint about parking. I am NOT a parking attendant nor do I play one on TV nor do the By-Laws grant me the privilege/right to act as one.
Included below is an image of the parking lot. There are two (2) reserved parking berths outlined at the complex designated for Handicapped parking. These spots are set aside for Handicapped designated vehicles which possess an official demarcated plate or a rear-view mirror hanging placard. There are elongated berths designated for bus parking. Busses or vehicles with trailers should park in those locations. ALL OTHER PARKING LOCATIONS ARE AVAILABLE ON A FIRST—COME, FIRST—SERVED BASIS. I will NOT entertain nor will I intercede in any parking lot squabbles.
Those carrying on the business of CENJARS launches should and will be granted carte blanche to utilize the parking spaces as is necessary.
Sunday’s launch was a very active launch. We started earlier than usual, due to returning to EST, because Neil kindly offered to tote the launch equipment to the site. I drove to Charlie’s home on Friday to help load the equipment into Neil’s van. Neil had a recent medical procedure and, as such, he was requested not to do lifting. Neil arrived early Sunday, as did I, to get the equipment on the field. My son, Kevin, and my wife, Martha, and I unloaded and ported the equipment onto the field. Others arrived a bit later and helped with the setup too. Neil’s van was parked as I had directed him to park to facilitate the unloading of the club equipment.
At the launch, I had to administer two high-power exams (a Jr. L1 and an L2) as well as entertain the Princeton Rocket club and do other normal launch duties. The Princeton club was patient, polite, and they conducted themselves as good denizens at our launch. They were never overbearing considering they all wished to launch. Too much launch and rocketry was happening on Sunday and entertaining parking squabbles was way way way way way down on my list of priorities. (ie. I didn't care and don't bother me with it)
At nearly every launch site I have ever attended, parking is on first-come first-served basis. Get there early and or help with setup, and you can get a better parking situation; if you can not, one parks where'er a space is available.
Also, the yellow-legged launch rail is NOT club equipment. It is my, your Poohab’s, personal HP launchpad. I began bringing it to CENJARS launches before the club had its own rails. On Sunday, it was requested that my rail be set-aside for the Princeton club. Despite that request, my pad was still being used when the club’s pads were already occupied. Presently, we have limited rail resources and we'd have even fewer if I did not bring mine to launches. Perhaps, a dissertation on stochastic systems, Markov processes and queueing theory is in order?
Several other things occurred during this launch to really push the envelope of my sanity and good nature. I did my penance raising my own children; I have no desire to rekindle that period of my life.
Thank you for reading my venting …
Respectfully,
Notice to all CENJARS members …
