February 2025 Launch Report

It was another cold day, but actually not too bad once the winds died down. A pretty large group of folks turned out, many of them ARC teams, which appear to be ramping up.

Engine totals:

0 – 1/2A Engines
8 – A Engines
9 – B Engines
12 – C Engines
1 – D Engines
8 – E Engines
11 – F Engines
2 – G Engines
Total of 51 engines on 48 flights. (Very close to January’s totals)

So it was a good crowd, and as I said. There were several ARC teams and a bunch of flights. The ARC flights are ramping up as we approach their April deadline. Some were really nice flights. Some still have a little work to do, but they’ll get there.

We saw a few impressive CATO’s. Always fun when it’s not your own rocket. Fortunately, no one got hurt, and the ground fires were short lived (this isn’t LA).

Being Groundhog Day, Brian launched his "Pringles" rocket with a special passenger on the nose cone. “CENJARS Charlie” went for a ride, but didn’t have quite as nice a landing as hoped for. Six more weeks of winter I’m afraid!

We also celebrated Valentine’s Day. Eric & Jo Ann brought their collection of “Couples rockets” – 3 pairs of coordinating rockets that they have built together. They all flew well, which is a good sign. No, they didn’t drag race any of the pairs, because couples don’t compete with each other, right?

In other flights of interest, Linden had a few nice flights, including boosters and gliders. Shaurya flew a nice-looking finless design. It didn’t fly very straight unfortunately. For those interested in finless designs, check out Apogee’ Peak of Flight #379 article (which Charlie directed me to for a project of his). But Shaurya’s “Mean Machine” flew well. Jeff and Chris also flew their versions of “Big Daddy” (“Tall Daddy” in Jeff’s case). Jim flew his extra-long streamer, attached to some kind of rocket. Always a crowd favorite! Don had to put some extra effort into launching his Payloader with a Barbie, but it eventually got there. Michael had a nice flight with his “Rock-it”. And there were a few Hi-Flyers that mostly did just that. Jim kept his well within sight and below the clouds though.

Plenty of pics in the Gallery.

Rocketship Games was again in attendance, which is always appreciated. Note that Joe says he’ll be busy and out of communication for the next couple of weeks or so. He’ll be attending our March 2nd launch, plus “Red Glare” down in Maryland at the end of March. ARC teams note: he will not be attending April 6th – the last day of ARC qualifications. So get what you need in March!

Thanks again for those who continue to renew their membership. I’m always available at the field to renew, or you can do so by mail. (Info on the Section Info/Join CENJARS page.) ARC Teams – remember that we require the team to have a membership, or at least one team member have one.

Next launch is currently slated for March 2nd, weather permitting. Check the website for last minute updates. We can celebrate St. Paddy’s Day so hopefully we’ll have the Luck of the Irish with us!
