CROCFEST 2010

CENJARS (NAR Section 698) and Heavenly Hobbies cordially invite you to the 1st Annual CENJARS Rocketry Festival — CROCFEST 2010!

CROCFEST is an educational rocketry meet, open to teams from schools, scout troops, 4-H clubs, etc. It will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2010 (See note 1.) from 10:30am to 3:00pm, at 2735 18th Ave, Belmar, NJ 07719. Participants must be in grades 7th to 12th in the 2010 / 2011 academic year.

The objectives of CROCFEST are dual.  The primary objective is to convey the idea to middle and high school students that science is fun. The secondary objective is to provide a “warm-up” launch for teams considering participation in TARC 2011.

With these lofty objectives in mind, we have put together a series of events that will appeal to both beginner groups and veteran competitors. See the list of events below:

  • Team Rocket Building: Teams of 3+ students build a stable rocket from a box of parts and fly it before the meet is over. Get points on creativity, craftsmanship, speed, etc. Engines classes A – F permitted.
  • Egg-Loft Target Duration (parachute): Launch a rocket with a hen’s egg inside. Keep it aloft for 42.5 seconds exactly, using a 15” diameter parachute as recovery system. Engine classes C – F permitted, subject to an average thrust of 11 Newtons or more.
  • C Helicopter Duration: Fly a rocket with a helicopter recovery system. The participant with the longest time aloft wins.  Only C-class engines permitted.
  • B Altitude (w/ electronic altimeter): Fly a rocket containing the Adept A1-TA altimeter or the PerfectFlite Alt15k/WD. The participant with the highest flight wins. Only B-class engines permitted.

CROCFEST will award valuable prizes to the individual winner of each event, as well as a $100 SHOPPING SPREE at Heavenly Hobbies to the overall CROCFEST winner (team).

A $19.99 registration fee is required per individual participant, payable via money order or institutional check to Heavenly Hobbies LLC, 17 Flint Drive, Spring Valley, NY 10977. If you prefer to send payment via credit card or PayPal, email  CustomerService@HeavenlyHobbies.com to that effect and further instructions will be provided (See note 2.).
